Val Schonberg, MS, RD, CSSD, LD, NCMP

Val is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian with a Master’s Degree in Nutrition Science specializing in nutrition for dancers and performing athletes of all ages and abilities.

Val is Board Certified as a Specialist in Sports Dietetics and has a working knowledge of energy needs and expenditure, healthy nutrition, fluid balance, supplements, and sports psychology. With a background in treating eating disorders, she is also focused on providing nutrition guidance while decreasing the risk for those susceptible to disordered eating or clinical eating disorders.

Val is an active member of the Minnesota Dance Medicine Foundation, the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science, The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and the Collegiate and Professional Sports Dietetics Association. She serves on the Dance/USA Task Force for Dancer’s Health and is a certified menopause practitioner by the North American Menopause Society.

She’s provided nutrition care and support to pre-professional and professional dancers in organizations throughout Minnesota and Georgia, as well as serving as a consulting dietitian for the University of Minnesota Women’s Gymnastics team. Her passion for dance began as a young child actively involved in dance and competitive gymnastics. She went on to perform with the University of Nebraska dance team and UNL cheerleading squad, and has been a proud “dance mom” for over 18 years.
